Our specialized on-site cabinet restoration is completed in just 4 days. Day 1 is protection and prep (masking, cleaning, sanding, priming). Days 2 and 3 are professional spray application of each side of the doors and drawer faces. Day 4 is reassembly, hardware installation, and your final walk-through. Your kitchen is typically back in service by the end of Day 4.

Q: Do I have to empty my cabinets before painting?

Not your shelves—just your drawers. We plastic off the cabinet openings so your dishes, glasses, and shelf contents stay clean and in place. Drawers do need to be emptied since we remove the drawer faces for spray application. We also need a small 10×10 area in your garage as a drying station.

Q: Is on-site cabinet painting better than off-site warehouse painting?

Yes. We offer a specialized Wood Grain Filler service for oak and other heavy-grain cabinets. We apply a filler during the prep phase to bridge the deep valleys in the wood grain. While it doesn’t eliminate 100% of the texture, it significantly minimizes the grain for a much smoother, modern appearance once the finish is applied.

Q: Can Robinson Painting install new cabinet hardware?

Yes. If your new knobs, pulls, or hinges match your existing holes, we install them at no additional charge. If you’re switching from a knob to a handle pull (or vice versa) and new holes need to be drilled, we can handle that for an additional charge—just let us know before work begins so we can fill the old holes properly during prep.

The 4-Day On-Site Process

We take over your kitchen for a few days to get the job done right. By working on-site, we eliminate the need for expensive warehouse storage and transportation fees, keeping your project affordable.

Protection & Prep

We mask off everything—your floors, countertops, ceilings, and walls. We even plastic off the cabinet openings so you don’t have to empty your shelves (though drawers must be emptied). We then clean, sand, and prime all surfaces to ensure a perfect bond.

The First Side

We coordinate a small 10×10 area in your garage to act as our drying station. We apply the first finish coat to one side of the doors and drawer faces using a professional spray application.

The Second Side

Once the first side is dry to the touch, we flip the pieces and apply the finish coat to the second side, ensuring complete coverage and maximum durability.

Re-assembly & Final Walk-Through

We carefully put everything back together, re-install your hardware, and clean up the workspace.

Specialized Grain Filling

If you have Oak or other heavy-grain wood cabinets, we highly recommend our Wood Grain Filler service.
