2020 Color Picks: as Forecasted by the Experts
Let’s take a look at what the experts at Sherwin-Williams, Behr, and Benjamin Moore have to say about the colors that will trend in 2020:
1. Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams, announced the bold, deep sapphire-like hue of Naval (SW 6244) as its trending color 2020.
Naval “takes cues from the Roaring 1920s” and thus pairs perfectly with burnished golds, marble, and mixed metallics, to exude a luxurious look.
For a more grounded, calming feel for your home, Sherwin-Williams’ press release also recommends the “new, approachable neutral” to be used with natural materials like warm leather tones or vibrant greenery.
2. Behr announced the ‘calm, gracious and balanced’ color, BACK TO NATURE (S340-4) as their top pick for 2020 Color Trends — a refreshing, pale olive tone for a modern yet elegant and graceful mood.
Behr’s featured palette for 2020 plays on the natural elements of “sky, earth, water and plant life.”
From the warm tones of CIDER SPICE (S210-5), RED PEPPER (PPU2-02), and DUSTY LILAC (N110-1) to the balanced hues of GRAPHIC CHARCOAL (N500-6), LIGHT DRIZZLE and PAINTER’S WHITE (PPU18-08), Behr’s nature-inspired colors create an atmosphere that summons the serene beauty of Mother Earth from right inside your home.
3. Benjamin Moore’s Color Trends 2020 features the “soft, rosy hue” of First Light (2102-70) — a fresh “wash of pink” to welcome “a bright new decade.”
Besides the striking yet balanced hues of Cushing Green (HC-125) and Blue Danube (2062-30), the rest of Benjamin Moore’s Color Trends 2020 Palette also includes pale and pastel colors from White Heron (OC-57), Crystalline (AF-485) to Windmill Wings (2067-60).
Yet again, we see the desire to step away from the frenetic, complex technology styles and a move to the more relaxed, calming colors of pastel for 2020 by Benjamin Moore.
Whether you’re aiming for a bold, exquisite vibe or a soft, calming feel for your home, Sherwin-Williams, Behr, and Benjamin Moores’ colors for 2020 offer plenty of inspiring ideas as you prepare for your next interior paint project.
